This year, we will be kicking off our seminars on Feb. 23rd, 2017. Our guest speaker is Capt. Chris O’Neill of Tail Chaser Charters. If you’ve heard of Chris and are having difficulty placing from where, look no further than The Reel Satwater Outdoors Radio Show.Check out Chris’s website at http://tailchasercharters.com/
I have a special thank you to Chris O’Neill for the phenomenal seminar he did for us on the 23rd. The knowledge he shared with us on everything from the feeding habits of the fish in this area , knots used, techniques and tackle used is absolutely incredible. It was fascinating to hear about his work with FWC. If you are looking for a charter, I’m sure a day spent with Chris would be a great experience.
The second seminar this year will be the return of Geoff Page. Everyone enjoyed his seminar last year and he’s agreed to return again this year. We will be hosting Geoff on March 23 at 6:30, also at the store. Geoff is on the show The Chevy Florida Insider Fishing Report. He’s also one of(if not the best) fishing guides in Florida. With Geoff will be Ray Ragolta from Okuma Fishing. Ray will be available to answer your questions on Okuma products.
OOps, we had a last minute change. Capt Page was off to the Bassmasters Classic so he asked Capt. Eric White of Legacy Fishing Charters to stand in for him. Eric is a very well known local captain, based in Venice, with extensive fishing knowledge of the area. He did such a phenomenal job that no one missed Geoff. I would highly recommend Capt White for anyone looking to do a deep sea fishing trip.
Our final seminar this season will be held at the store on Thursday, April 27th at 6:30 PM. Our guest speaker will be Capt. Dave Stephens. Dave fishes Charlotte Harbor and has been doing so for 18 years. He specializes in catching trophy Snook, tarpon, trout and Redfish with mostly live bait but also artificials. In 2014, Dave placed 1st and 2nd in the FlatsMasters, and also placed 1st in the Punta Gorda IFA tournament. Here’s the link to his website-backbayxtremes.com. Check it out.
Also, the U.S. rep from Ryobi reels will attend. Ryobi makes a great, reasonably priced reel and George will be here to answer your questions.
Our seminar on April 27th was great! Capt Dave Stephens, who charters as Back Bay Xtremes in Charlotte Harbor, filled us all in on fishing the harbor using a variety of live and artificial baits, as well as the riggings he uses. He spoke for about an hour and a half and then our own Capt Phil joined in for the deadly fishing tandem. Great, great, great!
Many in attendance were unfamiliar with Ryobi reels. Ryobi has been around sine the 1940’s, and many people were impressed with the quality and construction of these reels(especially considering the low cost!). I was very happy George Sakamora was there to talk about these reels since he is not only the North American rep for Ryobi, he’s also the designer for these reels!
We will post upcoming seminars and events here once they are scheduled.
